TIME SYNCHRONIZATION IN SENSOR NETWORKS

Abstract

Time synchronization in a wireless sensor network is important for routing and power conservation. The lack of time accuracy can significantly reduce the network's lifetime. Global time synchronization allows the nodes to cooperate and transmit data in a scheduled manner. Energy is conserved when there are less collisions and retransmissions. In addition, energy is saved when nodes are duty-cycled. Existing time synchronization protocols aim to accurately estimate time uncertainty and synchronize each node's local clock in the network.
