Abstract

Sacred groves are one of the most ancient forms of community-based conservation in India. In the semi-arid Merta region of Rajasthan, these sacred landscapes—locally known as Oran, Devra, and Gauchar—play a vital role in preserving biodiversity and maintaining ecological stability.
