Abstract

This article makes the case that while change management is critical, competent leadership is equally necessary for its successful implementation and long-term sustainability. We offer an integrative model of leadership for change that takes into account all of a person's cognitive, spiritual, emotional, and behavioural aspects and needs. Vision, values, strategy, empowerment, and motivation and inspiration are all part of the approach. An overview of the model's use in various strategic change situations concludes the paper.
