Abstract
The adventurous non-fiction, Poorna written by Aparna Thota is about the journey of Malavath Poorna, a thirteen-year-old girl, who transcended the boundaries of her small hamlet Pakala, Nizamabad district in Telangana state of India to scale Mount Everest. When she was studying in the Telangana Social Welfare Residential School at Tadwai, she was chosen for a mountaineering camp which is the beginning of her journey to summit the highest peak in the world. Poorna, though written in dairy form, is not an account of dates and events but, on the contrary, the author delved deep into the mind and heart of Poorna unknot her physical and emotional challenges faced in academics, volleyball game, mountaineering training, motivation, acclimatization to cold weather conditions, determination, overcoming acute mountain sickness and the moment when her oxygen cylinder was completely exhausted and her Everest summit.
